A Grand Tour Part 7 - Poznan

Today is Election Day in Poland and just like in our world, there are posters everywhere as well as all the election hype one associates with an election campaign:







The drive from Warsaw to Berlin was one of our longer travelling days and it was good to break the journey in Poznan for lunch and a look around. Poznan also suffered badly during the last war and has been well restored. We entered the town square which is dominated by the Town Hall. As we got there just before 12 noon, we saw a large crowd of people staring intently at the Town Hall Clock Tower:

The interest is in the legend that tells how a couple of goats got away from the goatherd and went up the tower to fight - the goatherd followed and saw a fire. He sounded the alarm and the town was saved. Every noon, the goats come out of the Town Hall tower to fight and that is what this is all about.

















The buildings in the square were just wonderful and the different architecture was good to see. Here are just a few examples in this delightful place - and just look at the detailed facade and the collection of different coloured houses etc.:
